These terms cover downloading, trying and buying Detego, the Mac app, and using this website. They're written to be read; the short version below is a summary, and the numbered sections are the terms themselves.

1. About these terms

Detego is made and sold by Aristere F.Z.E, a free zone establishment registered in Ajman Free Zone, United Arab Emirates, under licence no. 57508, with its registered office at B.C. 1309866, Ajman Free Zone, Ajman, United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). These terms are a contract between you and Aristere.

By downloading, installing or using Detego, or buying a licence, you agree to these terms. If you use Detego for an organisation, you confirm you can agree to them on its behalf. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 18 to buy.

How we handle personal data is in the privacy policy.

2. The free trial

The trial starts when you click Start Free Trial in the app and lasts 14 days. It's the full app. To make it run once per Mac, the app registers the Mac's anonymous ID with our server when the trial starts, as the privacy policy describes.

When the trial ends, the shelf stops showing new items until you add a licence. Detego keeps collecting in the meantime, so a licence brings everything back. We may change or end the trial offer for future downloads; a trial already running keeps its 14 days.

3. Buying a licence

Licences are sold for 1, 3 or 5 Macs at the prices on detego.net, in US dollars, exclusive of sales tax or VAT, which is added at checkout where it applies. Owners can add more Macs one at a time from the manage page at the price shown there.

Our reseller, Paddle.com, is the merchant of record for all orders. Paddle takes the payment, handles tax, issues the invoice and processes refunds, and its buyer terms apply to the purchase. After payment, we email your licence key to the address you used at checkout.

A licence is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

4. What a licence covers

A licence gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Detego on as many Macs as the licence covers, for personal or business work, for as long as you like. A Mac counts while it's activated; deactivating one frees its place for another.

A licence includes every update we release for Detego, at no extra cost. We plan to keep improving Detego, but we don't promise to release updates, or to support every future version of macOS or Claude Code.

An update may change or remove features. Detego requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later and Claude Code.

5. Activation

Activating a licence, deactivating a Mac and checking for updates need an internet connection. Once activated, Detego keeps working offline. The app checks the licence only when you activate, deactivate or check for updates.

If you replace your Mac's logic board, macOS gives it a new hardware ID, so it counts as a new Mac. Remove the old entry on the manage page to free its place.

6. Refunds

If Detego isn't right for you, ask for a refund within 30 days of the purchase and you'll get the full amount back, no questions asked. Request it at paddle.net, where you can look up your order, or by emailing [email protected]. After 30 days, we look at requests case by case.

When a licence is refunded, it stops working. Each Mac using it goes back to the trial-ended state the next time Detego contacts our server. Macs added later are refunded on their own and removed from the licence the same way.

Because Paddle is the merchant of record, Paddle makes the final decision on a refund and may refuse requests that look like abuse, such as repeated buy-and-refund cycles. Nothing here reduces any refund or cancellation right you have by law.

7. Fair use

You may not:

• share, publish, sell or give away a licence key, or use one on more Macs than it covers;
• get around the trial or the licence check, for example by resetting the trial or modifying the app;
• sell, rent or redistribute Detego, or a modified copy of it (linking people to detego.net is always fine);
• reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble Detego, except where the law allows it despite this term;
• interfere with, overload or probe the licence server or this website, or use them to break the law.

8. Claude Code and other software

Detego shows files that Claude Code and Claude in Chrome create. Those are Anthropic's products, used under Anthropic's terms, and Detego isn't made, endorsed or supported by Anthropic. "Claude" and "Claude Code" are Anthropic's trademarks, and we use them only to describe what Detego works with.

Detego depends on how Claude Code stores its files. If Anthropic changes that, parts of Detego may stop working until we update it. We'll try to keep up, but we can't promise to.

9. Your files

Detego runs on your Mac and copies the files it shows into its own folder. You're responsible for your own files and backups. Detego deletes its copies after the number of days you set in Settings; it never deletes or changes the originals Claude Code wrote.

10. Ownership

We own Detego, this website and their contents, including the Detego name and icon. A licence lets you use the app; it doesn't transfer any ownership. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

11. What we don't promise

Detego and this website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that Detego will be error-free, will work with every setup, or that the licence server will always be reachable.

12. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about Detego, a licence or this website is limited to the amount you paid for the licence the claim is about. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost data or lost business, whether or not they were foreseeable.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that can't be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights your local law gives you.

13. Ending a licence

You can stop using Detego at any time. We may end a licence if it's used in breach of section 7, for example a key that has been shared publicly. If we do, we'll tell you by email first unless the breach makes that impractical. A licence that ends this way isn't refunded.

14. Changes

We may change these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and the version in force when you bought applies to that purchase unless you accept a newer one. We may change or stop the website and the app's features, but a change never takes away a licence you've paid for.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Emirate of Ajman and, where they apply, the federal laws of the United Arab Emirates. A dispute we can't settle informally within 30 days goes to the courts of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), which both sides agree to use. If you are a consumer, you can also rely on the mandatory consumer protection law and the courts of the country where you live.

16. General

These terms, with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Detego. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term straight away doesn't waive it. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over Detego; you may not transfer them without our written consent. Neither side is responsible for delays caused by events outside its reasonable control.

You confirm you aren't located in a country under comprehensive UAE, UK, EU or US sanctions and aren't on a restricted-party list.
