Detego is built so that what Claude Code makes stays on your Mac. This page says what little does leave it, why, and who handles it.
The short version
- Your prompts, files, images and paths never leave your Mac. Detego reads them there and keeps its copies there. We can't see them.
- No analytics, no tracking, no account. The app and this website count nothing about you.
- The app contacts us only when you ask it to: when you start the trial, activate or deactivate a licence, or check for updates. Those requests carry the licence key, an anonymous ID for the Mac, the Mac's name and the app version, and nothing else.
- When you buy, Paddle handles the payment. We keep your email address and your licence so we can send your key and let you manage your Macs.
- You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, or to delete it, at [email protected].

1. Who we are
Detego is made by Aristere F.Z.E, a free zone establishment registered in Ajman Free Zone, United Arab Emirates, under licence no. 57508. Aristere is the controller of the personal data this policy describes. "We" and "us" below mean Aristere.

2. The app on your Mac
Detego watches the places Claude Code leaves its work: its scratchpad folders in /private/tmp, the session transcripts in ~/.claude/projects, the folder Claude in Chrome saves screenshots to, and any folders you add in Settings. It copies the images, pages and PDFs it finds into its own folder, ~/Library/Application Support/Detego, together with the session and the prompt each one came from.
All of that happens on your Mac. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else, and the app has no analytics, crash reporting or advertising code. Detego asks for no Accessibility, Screen Recording or Input Monitoring permission.
Items are deleted after the number of days set in Settings under "Keep items for". Deleting Detego's folder in Application Support removes everything it has stored.
3. What the app sends, and when
The app makes a request to our licence server (licence.detego.net) only after you take one of the actions below. It never checks in on a schedule of its own.
- Start Free Trial sends an anonymous ID for the Mac. The ID is a salted SHA-256 hash of the Mac's hardware UUID, so it can't be turned back into the UUID or linked to you. We store it with the trial's start and end dates, so a trial runs once per Mac.
- Activate sends the licence key, the Mac's anonymous ID, the Mac's name as set in System Settings › General › Sharing (for example "Sam's MacBook Pro"), and the app version. The name is there so you can tell your Macs apart on the manage page.
- Deactivate sends the licence key and the Mac's anonymous ID.
- Check for Updates, when you choose it or turn on daily checks in Settings, downloads a small file from
detego.netthat lists the newest version. That request carries only the app's version and the macOS version. If the Mac has a licence, the app also sends the licence key, the anonymous ID and the app version to the licence server, to confirm the licence is still valid (for example, that it wasn't refunded).
Like any request over the internet, these reveal your IP address to our server. The server doesn't write IP addresses to its database or its logs. It holds them in memory for about a minute to limit abusive request rates, then forgets them.
4. Buying a licence
Paddle sells Detego as our merchant of record. When you buy, you give your payment details, email address and country (and sometimes your address or tax number) to Paddle, not to us, and Paddle's privacy policy covers that. We never see your card details.
Paddle tells us that a purchase happened: its transaction ID, your Paddle customer ID and which licence you bought. We ask Paddle for your email address to send your licence key. We store:
- your email address and licence key,
- the number of Macs the licence covers, and the date of each purchase and any refund,
- the Paddle transaction and customer IDs, to connect a refund to the right licence,
- for each Mac you activate: its anonymous ID, its name, the app version, and when it was activated, last checked in and deactivated.
We use this only to run your licence: to email your key, show your Macs on the manage page, enforce the number of Macs you bought, and handle refunds.
5. Email and the manage page
We email you your licence key after a purchase, your keys again if you use the lost key form, and a sign-in link if you ask to manage your Macs. We don't send marketing email and we don't track whether emails are opened or clicked.
A sign-in link works for 30 minutes. Opening it sets one cookie on licence.detego.net, used only by the manage page and gone after 30 minutes. We store the link only as a hash, with its expiry time.
If you write to us, we keep the conversation to help you. It stays in our mailbox until we delete it.
6. This website
detego.net has no analytics, no advertising and no cookies. It loads no fonts, scripts or images from other companies. The only exception is checkout: the pages that take payment (/pay, and Add Macs on the manage page) load Paddle's checkout, which runs under Paddle's privacy policy and may set its own cookies.
Visits to detego.net pass through Cloudflare on their way to our hosting provider, including anything you type into its forms, such as your email address when you ask for a lost key. Both may keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to operate and protect their networks. The app's licence requests go to licence.detego.net, which Cloudflare doesn't carry.
7. Who we share it with
We use a small number of providers, each only for the job listed, and we don't sell or rent personal data to anyone.
- Paddle: payments, tax, invoices and refunds, as merchant of record.
- Fly.io: hosts this website and the licence server, in the United States.
- Resend: sends the licence key, lost key and sign-in emails.
- Cloudflare: runs the domain name system for detego.net and carries the website's traffic to our hosting provider.
- Google Workspace: the support mailbox, if you email us.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights in a dispute.
These providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries. Where data protection law requires it, transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses and data processing terms.
8. How long we keep it
- Licences and activations are kept for as long as the licence exists, because a licence doesn't expire and needs them to keep working. If you ask us to delete them, the licence stops activating new Macs.
- Trial records (the anonymous ID and two dates) are kept so a trial can't be restarted.
- Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes.
- Support email is kept until we delete it.
The database is backed up daily by our host. A deleted record can remain in a backup until that backup ages out.
9. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable format, and you can object to how we use it. Email [email protected] from the address you bought with. We answer within 30 days and may ask you to confirm the request comes from you.
We process your data to perform our contract with you (the licence), to meet legal obligations such as tax records, and for our legitimate interest in preventing abuse of trials and licences. If you are in the EU, the UK or the UAE, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
10. Security
Traffic to the site and the licence server is encrypted, licences are signed so they can't be forged, and access to the server is limited to us. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
11. Children
Detego is a tool for software developers and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if we learn we have, we'll delete it.
12. Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects what the app sends, we'll say so in the app's release notes too.
